Introduction to SPIN

The purpose of human speech is, supposedly, to pass useful information from one human being to another. SPIN is quite another matter; SPIN has nothing to do with knowledge, education, or enlightenment.

How does one recognize SPIN?

The person presenting the SPIN is trying to sell you an IDEA, rather than a material object. A successful presentation will result in you giving the presenter something you would otherwise have not given him/her, such as your money, your vote, or your life. Obtaining that Something is the goal of the SPINner.

SPIN tends to stick to the bottoms of your shoes.

SPIN is an integral part of every facet of American Life.

SPIN Control: Should one attempt to control or neutralize SPIN, one risks creating unintended consequences. For instance, when one Comments on the Corporate News, one is necessarily commenting on SPIN, implying that the commentary itself has become SPIN.
